The paper considers in outline the application of automatic control in the fields of television and the theatre. It confines itself in the main to the consideration of servocontrolled systems and in particular to the applications of this type of control in which computers are also involved. The breadth of the field and the diversity of application make it difficult to cover the whole field adequately, and hence the paper concentrates on what is currently a very rapidly evolving area of activity.
