A method is presented for calculating the effects of atmospheric humidity on d. c. corona losses. The experimentally observed increase of the losses with humidity is explained. At conductor voltages near the inception level, an approximately cubic relationship is found between corona losses and relative humidity. The relationship is less sensitive at higher voltages.
