This article examines space-based power generation as an energy source which will not only last forever, but is cheap, non-polluting and can be delivered anywhere in the world. It outlines the collection of solar power using solar cell arrays on satellites and its transmission to Earth. The transmission media of both microwaves and lasers, and their respective receiving apparatus, are described and compared.
