A high sensitivity electro-optic sensor for measurement in the near-field region has been developed and calibrated. The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the near-field measurement with particular focus on the coupling of the magnetic field. The theoretical and experimental results have been compared at a frequency of 900 MHz. The results indicate that the sensor is suitable for the near-field measurement, with the same accuracy as in the far-field region.
