The introduction of a thin dielectric ring helps to increase the differential phase shift of the quadrupole gyromagnetic ferrite variable polariser by about 20~30%. Furthermore, a double-step impedance transformer has been introduced to broaden the bandwidth from 4.06 to 14.5%. The peak power is 750 kW, average power is 500 W, and the switching time is about 25 µs.
