At a junction between two monomode dielectric optical waveguides with different curvatures power is lost by radiation. To reduce this transition loss, it is proposed to offset each waveguide section towards its centre of curvature by a distance which equals the corresponding shift between the wave-beam axis and the waveguide axis.
