Parametric and subspace approaches to eigenstructure assignment are integrated to provide conceptually simple algorithms for eigenstructure assignment in controllable linear descriptor systems by proportional plus derivative state feedback and proportional state feedback. In particular, unlike comparable algorithms the new algorithms do not require right coprime matrix polynomials to be determined. The integrated approach enables the eigenstructure assignable with multiple eigenvalues to be readily identified.
