A method which allows undergraduate students to go through the complete design and fabrication process for a surface-acoustic wave filter, and then test their completed device against the original specification is described. Under-graduates are introduced to microelectronic fabrication techniques at the same time going through a realistic design exercise which takes only a limited amount of time.
