At the time of writing, Brexit is nearly upon us without any clues as to what it might actually mean. In the present article the author asks how engineering SMEs are coping with the situation. He shows that with the prospect of significant changes to trading arrangements imminent, and with the current uncertainty, British engineering firms are already feeling the heat - both as the recipients of goods manufactured on complex supply chains and as links in much larger chains.
