This paper discusses the problem of conversion efficiency in photovoltaics cells. Most installations today use a central inverter to deliver AC electricity to the grid. This puts most of the complex electronic control needed to synchronise with the grid into one unit.

Inspec keywords: energy conservation; photovoltaic cells; invertors; solar cells; maximum power point trackers

Other keywords: inverters; conversion efficiency; photovoltaic cells

Subjects: Power convertors and power supplies to apparatus; Photoelectric conversion; solar cells and arrays; Photoelectric devices; Solar cells and arrays
