The EU has mandated that the UK energy suppliers rollout smart meters. A smart meter is an advanced meter (typically an electrical meter) that identifies consumption in more detail than a conventional meter and communicates that information over a wide area network back to the utility company. In this paper, the author investigated the security issues in the deployment of smart meter.
