The new Rover 800 executive saloon car launched in July can be desribed as a product of computer-intergrated engineering (CIE). The Rover Group has the largest computer-aided-design installation in the European car industry, with over 330 workstations installed so that all areas of the product cycle, from concept planning through to manufacture, have access to the central design database.
