A novel high-speed driving technology is proposed for the plasma display panel (PDP). In this method, a ramp shaped priming pulse can be applied on the entire panel simultaneously by superposing a priming period on the display sustaining period. From the experiments, address condition to drive the HDTV grade PDP having 1080 horizontal scanning lines without lessening the brightness is achieved.
