A coupled-PLLs network suitable for phased-array systems is presented. The proposed structure uses phase-frequency detectors, instead of analogue multipliers, to achieve up to ±180° phase shift between output signals. This improvement makes it possible to extend the scanning angle from ±30° off the normal achieved through current coupled-oscillators to ±90°.
