Error-free 8 and 10 Gbit/s data modulation with quantum dot lasers emitting at 1.3 µm is presented. 12 Gbit/s open eye patterns are observed. An integrated fibre-optic QD laser module yields error-free data modulation at 10 Gbit/s at a receiver power of −2 dBm.
