A novel hybrid pseudo-spectral time domain method (PSTD) and time domain finite element method (TDFEM) scheme is proposed. Compared with TDFEM-FDTD, the TDFEM-PSTD greatly alleviates the Courant limit on spatial discretisation, as only two cells per wavelength are needed. For the same accuracy, numerical simulations clearly show that the proposed hybrid method is more robust and efficient than the FEM-FDTD.
