In a WCDMA system, the downlink signal the base station transmits is designed to fulfil the specifications set in the 3GPP standard. Here, the performance of the error vector magnitude (EVM) and peak code domain error (PCDE) quality metrics is impugned. It is shown that the limits of EVM and PCDE do not guarantee that the user will experience an adequate signal-to-noise ratio.
