Code orthogonality is a fundamental parameter in determining the system capacity in multi-user DS-CDMA networks. A novel derivation of the orthogonality factor for UTRA-FDD downlink is presented here. Using this derivation, the orthogonality factors for representative radio environments are computed and the results discussed.
