A method to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAR) of multicarrier signals has been developed. The method enlarges the quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellation size at tones so that several signal points represent the same information. It chooses a signal point among equivalent signal points that minimises PAR. The method achieved more than 4 dB PAR reduction in a 64-subcarrier system.
