An all-optical version of a scanning acoustic microscope is described. The electronic data acquisition system is a major advance on that previously reported, in that it is now capable of high speed acquisition of phase as well as amplitude images at 82 and 164 MHz.

Inspec keywords: computer-generated holography; acoustic microscopes; data acquisition; ultrasonic imaging

Other keywords: rapid phase imaging; electronic data acquisition system; high speed acquisition; 82 MHz; all-optical scanning acoustic microscope; 164 MHz; amplitude images

Subjects: Holography; Measurement by acoustic techniques; Ultrasonics, quantum acoustics, and physical effects of sound; Data acquisition systems; Sonic and ultrasonic equipment; Data gathering, processing, and recording, data displays including digital techniques; Computer-generated holography
