The authors demonstrate silica-fibre Raman amplifiers with gain bandwidths of up to 114 nm and peak small-signal gains of up to 41.5 dB. Cascaded Raman fibre lasers operating at wavelengths of 1423, 1455 and 1480 nm have been used to simultaneously pump these amplifiers.

Inspec keywords: laser transitions; optical fibre amplifiers; optical pumping; optical communication equipment; Raman lasers

Other keywords: triple wavelength pumped silica-fibre Raman amplifiers; gain bandwidths; 41.5 dB; 1480 nm; simultaneously pump; 1423 nm; 1455 nm; peak small-signal gains; cascaded Raman fibre lasers

Subjects: Optical communication equipment; Fibre lasers and amplifiers; Fibre lasers and amplifiers; Optical communication devices, equipment and systems; Stimulated Raman scattering and spectra; CARS; stimulated Brillouin and stimulated Rayleigh scattering and spectra
