A scheduling scheme for multimedia traffic over ATM-based TDMA satellite networks is proposed. This scheduling scheme is based on controlled alternation of the priorities of the best effort and delay sensitive connections in the scheduling process. Simulation experiments show that the delay performance of best effort connections is greatly enhanced with minimal effect on the cell loss performance of delay sensitive connections.
