A novel stacked shorted patch antenna is presented. The new printed antenna has significantly improved impedance behaviour compared to previously considered shorted patches, with a 10 dB return loss bandwidth of greater than 30%. The antenna is relatively easy to manufacture and can be accommodated on a mobile communication handset terminal.
