A novel type of signal-adapted biorthogonal interpolating recursive wavelet (SABIRW) with explicit structural parameter vectors is constructed. By optimising the parameter vectors the scaling function and wavelet can be adaptively selected at every level to obtain a compact multiresolution representation of the signal.
