A new two-stage approach for robust estimation of large image motion is proposed. First, template matching is carried out to find large image motion up to pixel-level accuracy, and then a differential technique is used to refine the image motion to subpixel accuracy. Experimental results have shown that the proposed approach can estimate visual motion both robustly and accurately.
