A method for selecting the optimum threshold for a double-dwell direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) code acquisition system in the JTC PCS channel model is presented. A modified expression for the mean acquisition time is derived, along with a set of optimum threshold values. Simulation is performed on VHDL to verify the acquisition system.
