A novel multiplexing technique is described, which employs an imaging spectrograph to interrogate fibre Bragg gratings in multiple fibre channels simultaneously, and digital algorithms to enhance the spectral resolution. An equivalent strain sensing resolution of 1.6 µɛ has been achieved in the preliminary experiments.
