Excess intensity noise caused by external optical feedback in partially corrugated-waveguide laser diodes (PC-LDs) was analysed theoretically and experimentally. The results demonstrate superior external optical feedback resistant characteristics in PC-LDs. The resistances to external optical feedback in the PC-LDs were nearly ten times higher than those in conventional DFB-LDs.
