Surface transverse waves (STW) propagating on quartz plates of finite thickness have been studied theoretically and experimentally. Multiple frequency stopbands are predicted and measured for plate thicknesses close to a few acoustic wavelengths. Temperature sensitivities are measured. Three temperature-compensated modes are found on AT-cut plates.
