A new spectral estimation technique, based on the matrix pencil method, is proposed for use in TLM. This new approach enables the complete study of electromagnetic resonators, including the determination of their quality factors Q, using the TLM method. As an example, a rectangular cavity resonator was modelled and the corresponding TLM results are compared to the analytical solution.

Inspec keywords: Q-factor; cavity resonators; resonators; spectral analysis; transmission line matrix methods; time-domain analysis

Other keywords: TLM method; spectral estimation technique; matrix pencil method; rectangular cavity resonator; resonator analysis; electromagnetic resonators; EM resonators; quality factors
