A new ternary trellis code of rate 1/3 with a DC free power density spectrum containing a spectral null at ω = 0 is presented. This code shows good distance properties when applied to an ISI free channel as well as to a 1-D partial response channel.

Inspec keywords: Gaussian noise; trellis codes; error statistics; white noise; Gaussian channels; partial response channels

Other keywords: rate 1/3 code; AWGN channel; ISI free channel; ternary trellis code; distance properties; 1D partial response channel; additive white Gaussian noise; DC free power density spectrum

Subjects: Codes; Information theory
