Dispersion-induced distortion in AM-SCM transmission systems employing linearised MQW-EA modulator
The feasibility of predistortion-linearised multiquantum well (MQW) electroabsorption (EA) modulators for suppressing dispersion-induced distortion is verified by means of a 42 channel AM-VSB signal transmission experiment using 1.3 µm zero-dispersion fibre and EDFAs. The results obtained by the experiment well support theoretical estimations of frequency chirping in MQW-EA modulators.
