A pattern synthesis method, which incorporates deterministic nulls in the radiative near-field of an array, is presented. The problem is formulated as a constrained least-mean-square approximation and an exact solution is given. Both linear and planar arrays are considered.

Inspec keywords: antenna radiation patterns; antenna theory; antenna arrays; least mean squares methods

Other keywords: linear arrays; near-field nulls; constrained least-mean-square approximation; pattern synthesis method; antenna patterns; deterministic nulls; planar arrays; radiative near-field

Subjects: Interpolation and function approximation (numerical analysis); Antenna theory; Antenna arrays
