Time-resolved chirp measurements are presented for a multiquantum well electroabsorption modulator which are in good agreement with Kramers-Kronig calculations. The device delivers negative chirp by control of both the operating wavelength and electrical drive.

Inspec keywords: electroabsorption; chirp modulation; electro-optical modulation; Kramers-Kronig relations; semiconductor quantum wells; refractive index

Other keywords: chirp control; time-resolved chirp measurements; MQW electroabsorption modulators; Kramers-Kronig calculations; multiquantum well; digital modulation; operating wavelength control; electrical drive control; negative chirp
