An array of fibre-optic, three-axis magnetic sensors was developed and operated undersea for a period of one year. The array comprises eight fibre sub-microradian interferometers each containing three magnetostrictive transducers for magnetic field detection and two piezoelectric transducers for quadrature control and nonmagnetic data transmission.
