An adaptive algorithm to enhance the teletraffic performance of a city street microcellular network having TDMA/FCA links is described. The algorithm controls the handovers to equalise the load at the BS, as well as maintaining link quality. An increase in channel utilisation of 37% for a blocking probability of 2% is achieved compared with the non-equalised BS loading method.
