An electrically tunable singlemode fibre Bragg reflective filter (FBR) is demonstrated for the first time by using a large amount of magnetostrictive material in which the fibre is embedded and side-polished. With a reflection bandwidth of ~1.5 nm, the measured tuning range of the FBR filter is 1.3 nm.
