Two general, closed form expressions for the distribution of the phase angle between two vectors in fast Rayleigh fading and Gaussian noise are derived. These general expressions include the effect of fading as well as noise correlation and, in special cases, reduce to several previously published formulas. The convenience when applying these new formulas to evaluate the error performance of DPSK and FSK. systems is highlighted.
