Signal saturation characteristics of a Nd-doped single mode fluoride fibre amplifier for the 1300 nm telecommunications window have been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Saturated output power levels in excess of +15 dBm for a launched pump power of 100 mW at 795 nm are reported.
