The results of calculations and measurements on the SAW properties of a new piezoelectric material, lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7), are reported. A new temperature-compensated SAW device orientation has been located with a SAW velocity of 3510 ms−1 and a SAW coupling factor of 1.2×10−2. The properties of this cut are compared with those of several other SAW substrates.
