Experimental measurements of the spectrum of an s.c.p.c/f.m. satellite communication carrier both with and without syllabic companders are presented. The variability of the spectra for different talkers, talker levels and activity ratios of speech are also reported. A novel form of simulation of the spectra, which opens the way to fast and economic successive convolution of spectra for use in intermodulation and interference, is proposed.
