We report a new surface-acoustic-wave (s.a.w.) device of the separated media convolver type. Waves are launched along two perpendicular axes and they perform a diagonal raster scan of the semiconductor surface. Two-dimensional images of 6×6 points with 1.5 μs line duration have been obtained.

Inspec keywords: optical information processing; surface acoustic wave devices

Other keywords: SAW device; two dimensional acoustic scanning; separated media convolver type; optical images

Subjects: Acoustic wave devices; Image processing and restoration; Optical information, image and video signal processing
