A novel dielectric waveguide system is reported for the transmission of microwave power to divers. The performance of the system is tested at 3 kW, c.w. (8.3 GHz) power levels. BaTiO3/p.t.f.e. double layered breathing tubes operated in the HE11-mode are used as waveguides. Delaunching is achieved with solid loads compensating for body and respiratory heat losses.
