Based on a minimum i.t.a.e. criterion, optimal control algorithm parameter surfaces are presented for 2nd-order computer-controlled systems. They illustrate the variation in proportional, integral and derivative parameters with sampling period, time delay and system time constant.

Inspec keywords: optimal control; discrete systems; three-term control; direct digital control

Other keywords: minimum ITAE criterion; sampling period; system time constant; computer controlled systems; direct digital control; optimal control algorithm parameter surfaces; time delay; 2nd order discrete control systems; integral parameters; derivative parameters

Subjects: Control engineering computing; Optimal control; Discrete control systems
