Thermal characteristics of surface-wave recirculating loops on a y-cut quartz disc delay line
Long delay lines can be built by folding and guiding an s.a.w. beam over the surface of a smooth polished thin disc. Surface rays can recirculate on closed surfaces. The thermal characteristics of three recirculating loops on a 76.2 mm-diameter y-cut quartz disc are examined. Disc delay lines on quartz offer the advantage of temperature-stable operation.
