A certain equivalent state-variable representation of a system defined by a rational transfer function, and stimulated by an impulse function, leads to equations in which not only the impulse response but also the step response and, if need be, the ramp response, are simply derived from the state variables.

Inspec keywords: step response; state-space methods

Other keywords: Laplace transforms; state space methods; ramp response; transient response; transfer function

Subjects: General circuit analysis and synthesis methods; Control system analysis and synthesis methods
