Evidence obtained from the effect of a magnetic field on the static characteristic of a diode thyristor indicates a correlation between discontinuities, or voltage shifts, and filamentary conduction. These results are consistent with the model which equates the discontinuity to a change from a filamentary to a uniformly conducting state.
