This letter deals with the harmonic composition of the oscillating circuit voltage in hybrid circuits utilising tunnel diodes and transistors. It is shown that the nonlinearity of the pn junction capacitance of tunnel diodes and transistors increases the higher-voltage harmonics. When the pn junction is well defined, the value of the second harmonic, which only occurs because of the nonlinearity of the pn junction capacitance, may be 12–15% of the first harmonic's amplitude. Comparison between theoretical and experimental results is given.
