It is proposed that the approximation problem for low-pass filters with a good transient response should be solved by adding zeros to transfer functions which were obtained by Neirynck and van Bastelaer in the time domain, using a method devised by Schüssler. The order of the solution and the number of zeros required are calculated from the well known elliptic solution for a low-pass response.
