Hybrid plasmonic resonance for enhanced refractive index sensing
Presented is a subwavelength surface plasmon polariton assisted resonant structure which supports a hybrid surface plasmon polariton Fabry-Pérot (SPP-FP)-like wave. The hybrid resonator combines both plasmonic and optical resonance, resulting in a refractive index sensitivity enhancement of approximately 168%. The existence of hybrid SPP-FP modes with highly enhanced surface sensitivity is experimentally demonstrated.
